Descripción: Sandy and the ladies in her family and town are expert backstrap loom weavers and embroiderers who work with naturally dyed wool yarns. The reddish hues come from the cochineal insect, the yellows from the cempazuchitl flower, the green from the tezuath plant and browns from pecans. The cross stitch design is characteristic of Hueyapan and the most intricate shawls take six months to create.
